The printer is built around a unique linear axis system that integrates the structure and the bearing surface as well as taking advantage of inexpensive and precise enough structural steel sections and inexpensive polyurethane wheels. By using many such wheels adequate load capacity is achieved and the high levels of precision required for traditional hardened and ground linear bearing systems is eliminated. A tape measure and a good level is all that is needed in regards to measurement to put the Euclid robot together. Laser cut steel plate makes up the remainder of the structure. The drive mechanism is of the timing belt variety and because of this and the modular bearing/structure simply replacing two structural steel sections and two timing belts it is possible to double the print volume. (This is on the order of a few hundred dollars to go from a 42\’\'x42\’\'x44\’\’ build area to a 42\’\'x90\’\'x44\’\’ build area)rnrnThe Euclid is not built to highly accurate per-say as the end goal is to scale up to the architectural level. By some sacrifice in accuracy it is able to achieve both speed and scale. Simply scaling up a reprap (which has been done) will indeed make bigger models but they will take proportionally longer to create (volume is cubed). The Euclid is in the time scale of two to three hours for a full scale sit-able chair. rn”,”public_description”:”Large Scale 3d printing.”,”project_photo”:”http://makerfaire.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/zach_schoch_robot_euclid.jpg”,”project_photo_thumb”:”http://makerfaire.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/zach_schoch_robot_euclid-373×500.jpg”,”project_website”:”www.xahkdesign.tumblr.com”,”project_video”:”https://vimeo.com/87966775″,”food”:”No”,”food_details”:”",”org_type”:”None of the above”,”large_non_profit”:”",”sales”:”Yes”,”sales_details”:”Products printed with the Euclid Robot 3D.
